We have drafted four all-star future lawyers to join us for our SLG Summer Leadership and Mentorship (SLAM) internship. Three of our interns started this week and have recapped their experiences and lessons learned:
Caroline Baird
Oklahoma City University School of Law ’22
Texas A&M University ’19
This week, I had the opportunity to assist an associate with her motion for summary judgment and review the applicable case law. I was also afforded the opportunity to attend an arbitration prep, as well as the arbitration itself the following day. I was able to assist an associate in preparation of her deposition and draft questions to be asked. Additionally, I am beginning to assist an associate in drafting arguments for a reply brief.

UNT Dallas ’20
During my first week as a summer intern, I was tasked with multiple assignments such as drafting a settlement offer, a settlement declaration, and drafting an answer. The highlight of my first week at SLG was attending my first arbitration preparation and attending the actual arbitration the next day. I have learned so much during the first week, and I look forward to continuously learning and growing more throughout the summer.

The highlight of my week was attending an arbitration with Ms. Amy and Ms. Angela. This was the first time I had experienced an arbitration and I was really excited to see how everything would unfold. The thing that impressed me the most was how patient and kind both Ms. Amy and Ms. Angela were with the opposing party. Lawyers are often painted in such a negative light, but the way these women handled themselves proves that lawyers can be great at their job while leading with grace and compassion. Ms. Amy and Ms. Angela are truly a class act and I am so honored to be able to learn from them this summer!
